Ohio State Offers Big Time Quarterback Prospect in the 2026 Class
Barbara J. Perenic/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

On Tuesday, April 30, the Ohio State Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Faizon Brandon, the number one overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class on 247Sports. Brandon is a sophomore at Grimsley High School in North Carolina. Faizon is a do-it-all quarterback who can make big-time throws from the pocket and make plays with his legs.

I am excited and blessed to say that I have received my 22nd D1 offer from The Ohio State University!! #AGTG @e43fitness @RecruitGrimsley @grimsleyfb @AnnaH247 @BrianDohn247 @MohrRecruiting @RivalsFriedman @ChadSimmons_ @ryandaytime @CoachRLarkin pic.twitter.com/gOzyr2XmAd

Faizon Brandon Fits Ohio States Scheme

On February 9, 2024, Ohio State hired Chip Kelly to be their new offensive coordinator. Kelly will look to make adjustments to Ohio State’s offense which had a down year in 2023.

Faizon Brandon measures in at 6-4 195 pounds and has a strong arm, powering him with the ability to drive the ball downfield. One of Brandon’s key traits is his ability to keep the ball out of harm’s way, only throwing three interceptions in 2023. Brandon is noted to be able to make quick decisions and get the ball to his playmakers, which is key for Chip Kelly’s offense. Chip Kelly uses leverage and pre-snap motion to create winnable 1-on-1s for his playmakers.

Brandon is a two-sport athlete who also excels on the basketball court when he is not on the gridiron. He is also a twitchy athletic runner on the field, rushing for 538 yards and nine touchdowns in 2023. On film, Brandon has shown the ability to excel in the RPO (run-pass-option) game, which Chip Kelly will love to utilize in Columbus.

Ohio State Has Offered 10 Quarterbacks in the 2026 Class

Faizon Brandon becomes the 10th quarterback Ohio State has offered in the 2026 class. There is yet to be a commitment from a quarterback in that class as it is still early in the process for the 2026 cycle. However, whichever ends up committing will be equipped with the top wide receiver, and number two overall recruit in the class Chris Henry Jr , son of former Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, who has already committed to the Buckeyes.
